Our Branch

Our charity was formed in 1962, and covers the County of Westmorland.

Our branch is run by a network of trustees, staff and volunteers including a branch manager. Our mission in the local area is to help and re home cats in need and help local owners with neutering and welfare payments.

The branch is an independent registered charity and in no way funded by the "National" RSPCA so therefore we are responsible for raising all our own funds to continue the work we do.

We also help with wildlife and do TNR "Trap Neuter Release" work within the local area.

Our Area Coverage

Riverview Cattery

Our cattery officially opened in June 2026 and is located close to our office on Beezon Fields in Kendal. This facility will enable us to help more local cats and has given us our own space rather than using boarding facilities.

If you are interested in adopting a cat please keep an eye on our "Meet Our Cats" tab and social media pages to see our cats who are looking for their new homes.

Unfortunately at the moment we are unable to help with dogs.

Our Aim

• To alleviate suffering and to rehabilitate neglected animals.
• To find new and loving ‘forever’ homes for our animals.
• To promote neutering & microchipping campaigns around our area.
• To offer financial assistance towards veterinary treatment for those pet owners in receipt of means tested benefits.
• To provide information and on-going educational campaigns regarding positive animal welfare.

Our Offices & Secure Outdoor Area

Our office in Kendal has a function room and kitchen available to hire which is currently used by a variety of clubs and groups. Please contact 01539 736307 (option 2) for booking details or email support@rspca-westmorland.org.uk

Our secure outdoor area is a great place for dogs to come and enjoy time off the lead or to to do some training in an enclosed area.  This area is available to book in half hour slots by members of the public or professionals. Please see the "For Hire" Tab for more information.
